ACTION / PROJECT IDEA
The rehabilitation proposal consists of current built parts change as little as possible and act for "overlap and coverage" looking for those empty waste and turning them into revitalizing parts of space.
So we suggest to create a dynamic and colorful lattice which determines travels and stays, marking roads and creating spaces of shade, activities and vegetation.
It's a lightweight piece that is "inserted" autonomously around the current building and "invades" the backyard. It will be in this, now shaded patio, where there are the main entrances and outdoor activities:
1 access to the Exhibition Centre
2. access to the training center
3. access to the Hall
On the other hand we believe essential to build some independence in public applications to be developed:
1. use dynamic and open (exhibitions, performances...)
2. use static (training, administration...)
So we suggest to create a more compact more expansive dynamic flow-independent part.
This piece "rests" on the current Hall reinforcing and doubling the current structure of large spans.
It is will host all the more "static" applications:
1. classroom
2. multimedia rooms and computer science
3. library
4. Management and offices

The main building preserved, now becomes a centre exclusively exhibitions and dynamic activities since the proposal is to create a space open and transformable, connected to cota with shaded outer space. The different organisational parts of its interior will integrate the existing structure.
This building is where the access centre and a café conceived as a "filter" between the outdoor plaza and downtown are generated. In such a way that when the civic centre will be closed, this may open to the public.

BREATHABLE LATTICE COVER AND SHADE: JUSTIFICATION AND MATERIALS
We believe that the cornerstone that revitalizes the environment and activates the functions of the Centre is the breathable color lattice:
It's a piece of lightweight metal structure of bars and independent support to the main building that borders and "embrace" the whole. Their dynamism and adaptability is reinforced by its lattice geometry that rises and support when you need it.
According to the triangulation.
Its outer face a set of white bars, compose it while on its inner face surprises us with an explosion of color.
The color is determinant in the path of the lattice, as it is changing degraded deforms according to their orientation:
1 red, Orange: urban area
2 blue and Green: facade of the Park
3-yellow: area of activities
As you can see in the drawings and images, lattice shade extends in height e invades "the piece of training", covering the main horizontal gaps that this has as lookouts and rest areas. |

THE TRAINING PART AND ADMINISTRATION: JUSTIFICATION AND APPLICATIONS.
As already explained in previous article, this piece is understood as an element "perched" on the current Hall.
Using the same perimeter of structure of large spans of this space, we will put another independent structure that will support the new part.
It's a very neutral and compact volume of 3 plants where its interior rooms are illuminated by courtyards and terraces that will act as controllers thermal and viewpoints.
This building we will access from lattice on ground floor plaza, where you will find a lift and stairs that connect with the first floor. Once inside, you will find another independent vertical communication core.
We understand all the project stays as versatile spaces capable of hosting any use. But we have determined some organized roughly into:
First floor:
Library - media library.
Large multi-purpose room with square cover enlargement.
Second floor:
All simple classrooms + double height soundproof classroom.
Third floor:
Administrative area with work areas and offices.
Special attention is the cover of this piece. As you can be seen in the images, proposes a ventilated roof cooling the last slab harboring all outdoor units of air conditioning and ventilation. |
